International Men’s Day Celebrated on 19th Nov

On 19th November  International Men’s Day is celebrated every year just like International national Women’s Day celebrated on 8th March of every year. Mainly, this day is celebrated to protect men from discrimination, exploitation oppression, violence and inequality and to give them their rights. It is also supported by UNESCO. This time the theme of International Men’s Day is “Making a Difference for Men and Boys.”

This is the year’s theme is ‘Making a Difference for Men and Boys’ which focuses on giving importance to men and boys. Also, this theme focuses on helping those who make practical improvements in the health and well being of men and boys globally. International Men’s Day is an annual international celebration. Thomas Oaster was started on 7 February 1992. The International Men’s Day project was conceived a year ago on 8 February 1991. Subsequently, in 1999, it was resumed by Dr Jerome Teelucksingh.

Mainly, International Men’s Day observed to focus on the health of men and boys, improving gender relations, promoting gender equality and highlighting male role models. As per the official website of International Men’s Day, men commit suicide 3 times more men than women in the world. Also, one in every three men is the victim of domestic violence. It was also found that more than double numbers of men suffer from heart disease than women. It has some objectives:

  • the positive contribution of men to society, community, family, childcare, the environment has celebrated
    • men’s health and well-being that includes all aspects social, emotional, physical and spiritual, focused.
    • To highlight discrimination against men.
    • To improve gender relations and promote gender equality.
